Which pharmacy is on duty in Estepona?

There are several ways to find out which pharmacy is on call in Estepona:

  1. From guiaestepona.com they offer you the possibility of having in your web the image where it is shown which pharmacy is on duty in Estepona.

2. The Consejo General de Colegios Farmacéuticos, makes available to users the tool Farmacias de Guardia, with information on the duty shifts of pharmacies in Estepona.

3. There are also Apps that claim to offer the service of locating on-call pharmacies throughout Spain. We have tried several of these Apps (FarmaGuardia, Pharmed, Farmacia Map, etc.) and the results have not been satisfactory. These Apps use Google Maps to show pharmacies near your location, but it does not tell you if it is on duty or not. Apps have been developed for specific areas (Zaragoza, Barcelona, Alicante, Tarragona, etc.) and they work correctly, however, at a national level or more specifically for Estepona, we cannot recommend any App for on-call pharmacies.

Lack of medicines in pharmacies

The Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) has warned about shortages of several drugs.

As a general rule, when a drug is missing, it is usually because of manufacturing problems due to lack of supply of the necessary raw materials, problems with packaging, or problems with distribution. In recent weeks, shortages of some products have increased, especially cough syrups, anti-epileptics, contraceptives, antibiotics or pediatric Ibuprofen. To cite just three affected names: Amoxicillin, Aspirin and Viagra.

Depending on the province, shortages of one or other products are more pronounced. Pharmacies point out that they do not receive information from the laboratories and have to abide by the communications from the Health Department. The College of Pharmacists of Malaga, clarifies that alarm should not spread because in the vast majority of cases there are alternative drugs. Of the 629 medicines with supply problems “only” 92 of them have no possibility of being replaced.

We hope you don’t have to visit the pharmacy too much because of health problems, but if you must, you can rest assured that Estepona has some great pharmacies with great professionals who will give you the best possible service.
